Lanta Nice Beach Resort
Koh Lanta resort recommendation
We’ve stayed at the Lanta Nice Beach Resort twice and I’m sure we’ll be back again. It’s a 3 star resort on Khlong Nin beach that we really like.
If you’ve never been to Koh Lanta we recommend it for a taste of Thailand island life. It still hasn’t reached the levels of development which many people feel have spoiled other Thai islands.
Most Koh Lanta Yai accommodation is on Long beach although you can find places to stay all the way along the west coast as well as east in the old town (worth a visit for dinner and a stroll in the evening).
Khlong Nin is a quieter beach a further south and much better for swimming than some of the other beaches which are a bit rocky.
If you book a tour and stay at Lanta Nice Beach Resort the speedboat will pick you up on the beach right in front of the resort, no minibus transfers required.
We had a car and Lanta is pretty small so it’s easy to drive around to explore other beaches, Saladan or Lanta old town. You could also hire a motorbike, or local taxis (motorbikes with sidecars) are available. If you don’t want to leave the resort you can get everything you need there.
Why do we recommend Lanta Nice Beach Resort?
Lanta has a few luxurious and very expensive resorts. It also has a lot of backpacker bungalows. In our case we can’t afford the top end but we are getting a bit old for a bamboo hut with no air con or bathroom. Lanta Nice Beach resort is somewhere in between. It’s not luxurious, the rooms are showing their age but they are pretty spacious. Rooms have air con, huge beds and decent bathrooms.
It’s the location that is so great about this place, the beach front bungalows are just perfect if you like to wake up and step out to the beach. The resort has cheap standard rooms across the road but the better accommodation is the beach side bungalows which are in three rows, the best being the beach front bungalows.
The resort pool is small but also well located on the beach front, as is the restaurant. The staff are friendly in the reserved sort of way typical of Koh Lanta locals.
The restaurant serves cheap and tasty Thai food as well a selection of Indian dishes plus sandwiches and western breakfast options. It doesn’t have fresh coffee. When we were there last month there was no ice cream in the fridge, no cocktails at the bar (only beer) and seafood had to be ordered in advance for dinner. But it’s low season and that’s island life, we also had power cuts every night.
All in all we think Lanta Nice Beach resort is a top place to stay in Koh Lanta.
