Phuket Thai Hua Museum
Phuket Town museum
The Phuket Thai Hua Museum is on Krabi road in Phuket old town. It is one of Phuket’s better museums and worth an hour of your time if you are staying in Phuket Town or doing a tour of Phuket.
It does a good job of explaining Phuket’s history, focusing on the Chinese immigrants who left their homeland due to poverty and came to Phuket to make good.
The museum has rooms detailing who the movers and shakers on the island were (and still are), what they did for Phuket and it’s population, and Phuket’s importance within the region and globally.
There is a room explaining Phuket’s architecture, with a good map to help you find all the most significant buildings of interest around Phuket town.
There are rooms dedicated to tin mining, Chinese migration, Phuket birth, wedding ceremony and death traditions, and Phuket Chinese traditional dress.
The room dedicated to Phuket’s deliciously varied food could be especially useful to you as it has a map showing some of the best eateries in Phuket town where you can find different types of traditional cuisine.
The price of entry to Phuket Thai Hua Museum is currently 199 baht.
The location is on Krabi road, just walk west 50 metres or so from Thalang road.
