On the ferry to Samui

We are authorised agents for Lomprayah’s bus and ferry Phuket to Koh Samui transfer service. You can be in Koh Samui in about 6 hours or vise verse. Of course it’s quicker to fly with Bangkok Airways but if you have time to spare you can save a few thousand baht by taking this slower option.

The bus departs from Phuket City at 1000 hrs daily, we can arrange transfers from your accommodation if required. Depending on the number of passengers on any particular day you could be in a minibus or a VIP coach (when we went this June there were 7 of us in a minibus). It takes about 4 hours to get to Don Sak pier in Surat Thani province, a quite pleasant journey through Phang Nga and Krabi provinces, past rubber and palm plantations. From Don Sak pier the fast catamaran departs for Koh Samui at 1600 hrs. The ferry takes 45 minutes so you’ll arrive at Nathon pier in Samui at 1645 hrs. From Nathon Pier in Koh Samui minibuses or taxis are waiting to take you to your hotel.

The whole process from Phuket hotel to Samui hotel is pretty smoothly organised. Basically hand your voucher in at the office and they’ll stick a sticker on you so that the staff know where to herd you. The ferry is comfortable with a choice of places to park yourself for the journey, either an air conditioned lower deck similar to sitting in a plane, a shaded rear main deck, or an upper sun deck. There is even a small “VIP” area for an extra 100 baht or an even smaller “Exclusive” area for 200 baht. Soft drinks, beers and snacks are for sale on board.

From Koh Samui the ferry carries on to Koh Phangan, arriving at 1730 hrs then on to Koh Tao, arriving at 1845 hrs.

Koh Samui to Phuket ferry

Depart Koh Samui (Nathon pier) at 8.00 am. Arrive Phuket Town at 3.00 pm.

The price from Samui to Phuket is 750 baht per person. From Koh Phangan it’s 1,000 baht, from Koh Tao 1,100 baht.
