Royal Cremation of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej is scheduled to be held on 25-29 October, 2017
The cremation will take place on 26 October, which has been declared a public holiday in Thailand.
For the period of the Royal Cremation, visitors to Thailand can continue with their travel plans as normal. All transportation, banks, tourism and hospitality businesses across Thailand will be operating as usual.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will seek the cooperation of all tourists to respect the solemnity of occasion. Many Thai people will be wearing black or white clothing as a sign of mourning. This is not required of visitors but they should wear “polite” clothing when in public and should refrain from conducting any inappropriate or disrespectful behavior.
The TAT also recommends that visitors stay updated via media announcements and notices from the Royal Thai Government as well as the Bureau of the Royal Household to ensure accurate information.
