Similan Islands camping at Koh Miang
Overnight stay at Mu Ko Similan National Park
Update Sept 2018: All accommodation has been removed from the Similan Islands for conservation. You cannot stay on the Similan Islands. You can still stay overnight at the Similan Islands on a liveaboard. Or you can stay in a tent at the Surin Islands.
Similan camping is a good budget option for staying at the Similan Islands. It’s a way to escape from the day trippers. Tents and meals are provided by at national park ranger station. Transfers and snorkeling excursions are by speedboat.
The camp site is on Koh Miang (Island #4). There is nothing else on the island, no cars, taxis, bars, shops etc. Just you and nature (lots of crabs and a about 50 other campers). AC cabins are also available on the Pansa Queen but there are only 6 cabins so book early! Bungalows are not available.
Also available: Surin Islands overnight
Camping is available at the Similan Islands from November to mid April. Advanced booking is essential.

What to expect
The Koh Similan National Park provides large tents on the park HQ at Koh Miang (Similan Island number 4) and Koh Similan (island number 8). Facilities are basic with a shower and toilet block and a restaurant. There are short trails (it’s a tiny island) so you can walk from the east coast beach through the island to the west coast beach.
The tents come with a floor mat, sheets, pillows and a mosquito net.
On island 4 there are also a few bungalows available for a surcharge, they get booked up months in advance and can only be booked directly with the national park (we cannot book them for you).
Don’t expect any night life at the Similan Islands apart from the sounds of the wildlife.
What to take
You will need swimwear, sunscreen, sun hat, beach shoes, camera etc. You will be provided with one towel per person so we recommend taking an additional beach towel.
We also suggest taking your own supply of toilet paper just in case. You should take some mosquito spray for the evenings, a small torch can also be useful.
The national park authorities ask that you do not take alcohol or snacks onto the islands with you and you should not have food in your tent as it will attract animals.
You should only take what you need for the duration of your stay in a small bag that you can carry yourself.
Please take your trash with you when you leave the island.
