Racha Yai map

First Day: 9.00-10.00 hrs: You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred by air con minibus to Chalong Bay. Exact pick up time depends on your hotel location.

11.00-11.30 hrs: The speedboat takes about 30 minutes to reach Racha Yai Island. Those who want to snorkel first stay in the speedboat, anyone who just wants to relax on the beach or at the resort can jump off the boat here.

11.45 hrs: The speedboat and snorkeling guide takes snorkelers on a tour to a great spot for snorkeling.

13.00 hrs: Lunch and check in to your room at Ban Raya resort.

14.00 hrs: In the afternoon you are at your leisure to enjoy the resort’s facilities or go snorkeling again. The small bay in front of the resort has a lovely little reef that you can swim out to. The beach bar is a great place to chillax until around sunset.

The resort restaurant is open until 10.00 pm. Meals are tasty and prices are reasonable. Or you can walk out of the resort and eat at a small selection of other restaurants around the island.

Subsequent days: After the inclusive breakfast you have some tough choices to make. There are several snorkeling and swimming bays to choose from, the island is small enough that you can walk between the bays (see map below). Or you can go on a nature trail (the resort can make up a picnic lunch box), go mountain biking or ask about scuba diving at the PADI dive centre in the resort. If that all seems a bit too energetic how about a spa treatment? Or just relax in the pool and order a cocktail.

Departure Day: Just as the days begin to blend into one and you start to truly unwind it’ll be time to leave 😉

16.00 hrs: Depart Racha Island by speedboat for the 30 minute ride back to Chalong Bay, Phuket.

16.30-18.00 hrs: Transfer back to your hotel

The resort sits in 60 acres of coconut palm gardens. It has it’s own infinity pool looking out on the Andaman Sea. It has it’s own spa. From the resort you can trek through the middle of the island or take a mountain bike instead. You can walk to Patok bay with it’s clear water, white sand beach and a couple of local seafood restaurants. Or to Siam Bay, with it’s underwater elephant statues, great for scuba diving. Or Ter bay and Lha Bay on the east side of the island if you really want seclusion.
